Cyberport believes that we need to nurture and educate the youngsters about innovation, creativity and technology so as inspire them and pave the way for their future career.

 

Through nurturing, more talents can be tapped into the ICT profession and helps the industry to maintain in a healthy cycle, and in the end, contribute to Hong Kong and help Hong Kong to excel as the leading ICT hub in the Asia-Pacific Region.

 

Cyberport organizes full range of programmes such as internship programme, competitions, career talks, professional talks and campus and company visits, so as to arouse the youngsters’ interests in the ICT profession as well as to inspire their creativity and innovation power.

 

 

Cyberport Hong Kong – Shanghai ICT Internship Programme

Vision & Objectives

  • With a vision to establish Cyberport as a leading ICT hub in the Asia-Pacific region, Cyberport is committed to facilitating the local economy by nurturing ICT talents through organising overseas internship opportunities.
  • Broaden the experiences of students in order to equip them as future ICT professionals.
  • With a well-established Shanghai network and partnership, Cyberport and its strategic partners will offer job opportunities for HK university students working in Shanghai ICT companies.

 

About the Programme

This programme was first launched in 2011, and it was open to all Full-time ICT students from tertiary institutions in Hong Kong.  For the 2011 programme, admitted students could work in a Shanghai ICT company for 6-12 weeks, with round trip airfare, accommodation and travel insurance sponsored by Cyberport. These ICT companies included IBM China/ Hong Kong Limited, Microsoft Corporation, EMC Computer Systems (FE) Limited, Shui On Land Limited, Leovation Limited and Concept Art House LLC Shanghai Rep. Office. The interns were provided with a series of enrichment activities, for example, orientation, ICT-related seminars, cultural tours, networking activities and post-programme sharing sessions.

Hong Kong Youth 3D Animation Competition

Objectives

  • To provide an opportunity for the younger generation to showcase their talent and develop their potential in innovation, technology and design through the promotion of 3D animation technology.
  • To enhance awareness in the community of the importance in creative education and creative industries.

 

About the Programme

There are three divisions: Primary Division, Secondary Division I (1 Minute Animation) and Secondary Division II (3 Minute Animation). For the Primary Division, students (must be primary students at the time of submission) compete on an individual basis. For the two Secondary Divisions, students (must be secondary students at the time of submission) compete on an individual basis or in teams of 2 to 4 students.

 

The 2011 Programme

The Final Judging and Prize Presentation Ceremony of the Hong Kong Youth 3D Animation Competition held on 6 November at InnoCarnival 2011 marked the end of competition this year. Nearly 300 entries were submitted to the competition based on the theme “I have a Dream”.  Fifteen entries were selected to enter the final judging.  Finalists presented their entries to the audience and judges, and responded to the panel’s questions after the screening.  In addition to the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit awards for each division, a number of special awards were also presented to the Secondary Division, including Best Image Design, Best Editing, Best Sound Effects, Best Visual Effects, Best Creativity and Best Participating School.

Hong Kong Game Development Competition

About the Programme

Digital games are fast becoming an important influence on youth culture, as well as a rapidly developing field of ICT technology. The programme aims at encouraging the innovation and creativity of every individual. By developing games with a meaningful theme each year, we believe we can help propel society towards it development into an information and communication technology hub as well as a knowledge-based economy.

 

There are three categories for enrolment in this programme: the Junior group for primary and junior secondary students; Senior group for senior secondary students; and Open group for anyone who is interested.

 

The 2011 Programme

This year, the competition carries the theme Digital Inclusion, by which we encourage the development of games that are accessible to everyone in society, or a game that could benefit the elderly and disabled. Winners will be invited to attend a study mission tour to Taiwan. The programme involves visiting the Taipei Game Show 2012.
